You should absolutely do your due diligence when comparing tour companies and cross reference the prices they provide. Always ask for a line-item breakdown of the total cost they provide. It’ll also be beneficial to inquire on the following.

Flights to the Safari
You can compare the flight cost the tour company provides you through this website. If you’re flying out of Nairobi, the departure airport is Nairobi-Wilson and arrival Maasai Mara-North.
Safari Hidden Park Fees
If you’re flying into the national park, you’ll likely be hit with the park fees which are absurd. The Maasai Mara is $80 per night PER PERSON, that adds up quickly so make sure you ask whether the park fees are included. It’s my understanding the park fees are already included if you drive into the park.

Accommodation Prices
Make sure to contact the lodge you choose and see how much they charge per night and ensure it lines up with the price the tour provider gives you. However, please note that non-Kenyan citizens (tourists) pay much more to go on safari than the locals.
The Schedule: Safari Game Drives & Days of Leisure
You want to know how many game drives are included. Generally, you’ll do an evening game drive, full game drives, and possibly one morning game drive the day you leave. You want to know how many game drives are included. If you drive into the park, you’ll typically have unlimited game drives. If you fly in, the tour operator will have a pre-set schedule and if you want additional game drives, you’ll end up paying extra. If you plan to include some time of leisure at the lodge, make sure you like the amenities included (a pool, jacuzzi, ping-pong tables, etc.).
